“Bahasa Support” | PADI IDC Gili Islands | Malaysian & Indonesian Instructor Training

The PADI IDC with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod can now offer language assistance to candidates through Bahasa Support. By having a Bahasa speaking member of the team we can now offer Indonesian and Malaysian candidates the option of Bahasa translation, explanation and assistance.
Over the course of 2014 and 2015 Holly has become the prime choice for people looking to train as a professional PADI Instructor and with the support of a Bahasa Speaking PADI Staff Instructor, the PADI IDC Indonesia at Trawangan Dive is rapidly becoming a very popular training destination for Indonesian and Malaysian speaking candidates.

During the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) Malay and Indonesian candidates will have the option of gaining the language support offered by our PADI IDC Staff Instructor Fariz Sawal who is from Malaysia and has been working alongside the PADI IDC Gili Islands program for well over a year. The role of a Staff Instructor is to assist both the Course Director and candidates throughout the IDC and although Fariz does not conduct the course, he plays a vital role within Instructor Development and particularly in terms of language support.

The IDC course itself is conducted entirely in English and currently the PADI IDC materials are not available in Bahasa so candidates will have to study the English materials. Of course, English is also the main language used when instructor candidates go on to teach their own courses and most of the previous instructor candidates have already been working with the English materials through Open water, Advanced, rescue and Divemaster training; but our philosophy is that it can be a great support for our Bahasa speaking candidates to have the option of translation, explanation or even just discussing topics in their own language. We believe that being able to offer our candidates the support that they need throughout the IDC is incredibly important; and the option of having Bahasa language support available for our Indonesian and Malaysian candidates helps to provide a great all round educational experience and a real confidence booster, helping our candidates to learn in a more relaxed and complete style. Fariz is also able to act as a translator for our candidate at the PADI Instructor Exam should any candidates need that additional assistance and peace of mind.

The PADI IDC runs every month at Trawangan Dive; the first ever PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center (CDC) in the Gili Islands. All Instructor level training is conducted by Platinum rated PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, who is assisted by staff instructors with a range of languages including Bahasa Malay.

If you’re looking to become a scuba diving instructor, holly will help you to achieve the best possible results in your PADI Instructor Examination and have the confidence to go on and develop a rewarding and successful career within the recreational diving industry. Kipp “The Henchman” Hennen | PADI Staff Instructor | PADI IDC Gili Islands

This year we have been extremely lucky to have renowned PADI Staff Instructor Kipp Hennen working with the Instructor Development Team in the Gili Islands. Kipp has worked within the industry for a number of years now and has fulfilled most of the roles found in and around modern dive centers.

After leaving his career in television Kipp travelled to Thailand to begin his career in recreational diving. After a number of years working as a Dive Instructor he decided to further his career and become a PADI Staff Instructor. After Thailand Kipp has travelled the world working as a PADI Instructor and just about any other dive related role he can find in a bid to learn as much as he can about the industry.

During his travels; Kipp has worked as a PADI Instructor, PADI Staff Instructor, Dive Center Manager, Expeditions Manager, Trip Director, Shark Diving Specialist and of course an IDC Staff Instructor.

Here in Gili Trawangan Kipp is often referred to as Kipp “the henchmen” Hennen; not because of any resemblance to villains, crime or murder, but because he can always be found leaning over the shoulder of his candidates assisting them with their personal learning development and making himself available to students at the drop of the hat and also because he often wears a handlebar moustache which has been likened to that of Hulk Hogan or a member of the notorious Hells Angels.

The PADI IDC Indonesia operates the PADI IDC program every month at Trawangan Dive. The course is not just designed to help you pass your PADI Instructor Examination, but to help you gain a rewarding and successful career in the diving industry. The course takes place at Trawangan Dive; the very first established PADI Career Development Center (CDC) in the Gili Islands and the entire Lombok region. Trawangan Dive is located on one of the best stretches of beachfront on the island of Gili Trawangan, and is currently the only PADI Career Development Center on the Island. All PADI Instructor level training is conducted by award winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod who has a reputation for excellence and success and will be able to assist diving professionals in developing themselves for rewarding and successful careers within the recreational dive industry. Having previously worked in a variety of scuba diving related roles across the globe; she is able to advise potential instructors of the benefits, opportunities, threats and weaknesses of working in specific roles and of course working in specific locations.
